Cal Newport reports reading Lost by Rachel Hartigan, a Tacoma Park writer and former National Geographic journalist. The book uses a dual narrative structure, interweaving Amelia Earhart's story with accounts of the many people who have since tried to find her plane or investigate rival theories about her fate. The book grew out of Hartigan's participation in National Geographic expeditions searching for the wreck near Howland Island or for remains on nearby islands. Newport found it interesting.
