Brad Stulberg describes this posthumous collection of Pirsig's essays and unpublished manuscript notes as making clear that Pirsig was working toward a full theory of excellence before he died. Brad was rereading it alongside Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance on a walk when he conceived The Way of Excellence, wanting to pick up Pirsig's torch. William Green adds that he was given the book by hedge fund manager Josh Tarasoff and organized a group discussion of it with leading investors.
